Plaza Premium Lounge has opened its doors in the domestic terminal (Terminal 1) at Mactan Cebu International Airport in the Philippines. It’s the second Premium Plaza lounge in the airport, with the other found in the the airport’s Terminal 2 (International Departures). Plaza Premium’s award-winning network of independent airport lounges cover more than 70 locations at over 35 airports around the globe.

“Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines and serves as the main hub for industries such as commerce, trade and education,” said Song Hoi-see, founder and CEO, Plaza Premium Group. “The blooming economy has elevated Mactan Cebu International Airport to the country’s second busiest airport,” he added explaining that the timing is right for the company to tap into the demand from passengers for a lounge in both terminals.

Cebu’s tourist arrivals increased by 14% in 2018, with numbers expected to continue increasing in years to come.

The new 3,000 sq.ft. lounge is open 24 hours to offer a spectrum of services and facilities and features a bespoke hand-painted iconic Cebu beach landscape setting at the reception. Influenced with Spanish colonial elements, the lounge architecture incorporated the use of traditional arch-shaped mirrors adding a touch of softness to the overall ambiance. To embody vernacular architecture, the lounge features Bankaray, a locally-sourced wood material used as vertical planks adding a unique texture to the walls.

Revealing that Terminal 1 is undergoing a total renovation plan to complement Terminal 2’s resort-airport design concept, Andrew Acquaah-Harrison, chief executive adviser of GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) said: “As we usher these improvements, we are glad to have Plaza Premium Lounge on board to establish its second lounge at Mactan Cebu International Airport. We strongly believe the synergy built will continue to elevate the travel experience for our passengers.”
