Passengers flying from London Southend Airport, one of the UK’s fastest-growing regional airports, have given the airport a glowing 91 per cent satisfaction rating.
Earlier this year, Southend reintroduced the ‘Happy or Not’ feedback system, which uses smiley -face buttons placed throughout the terminal for passengers to quickly rate their experience at key touchpoints. Nearly 22,000 responses were collected between February and April landing the airport its 91 per cent satisfaction score.
One passenger described all the airport staff as being “polite and friendly” as she underlined how this “really does make the start of your holiday.”
Meanwhile, another passenger flying to Alicante with easyJet, which reopened a base with three aircraft at the regional hub in March, said it’s the “nicest and most efficient airport” she’s visited.
Jude Winstanley, who was appointed CEO of London Southend in November 2024, said “Whether it’s our easy terminal experience, our friendly team or speedy access to and from central London, our passengers confirm that London Southend remains a trusted and well-loved choice for travel across Essex, London and East Anglia.”
In part thanks to the reopening of the easyJet base, London Southend has had an exciting start to 2025. It has also welcomed 10 new package holiday routes to Marrakech, Pisa, Reus and more, as well as return flights to Newquay, Cornwall with Eastern Airways and boasts the latest C3 screening technology at security, meaning passengers can cleave electrical items and liquids in their cabin baggage during the security screening process.
In addition to its 91 per cent positive feedback score, London Southend also invited passengers to rate their journey via an easy in-terminal survey, accessed by a QR code. Customers were asked how likely they are to recommend the airport to others on a scale of 1 (very unlikely) to 5 (very likely). Between January and April the data collated from the survey showed an impressive average score of 4.5 out of 5.
