Wizz Air has hit the milestone of 80 million passengers through London Luton Airport, with the 80 millionth passenger travelling on a flight from the airport to Palma de Mallorca on 11 August. Wizz Air began operating at London Luton in June 2017 and has since become the largest operator at the airport, with flights to around 30 countries. The airline has recently increased its frequency for the summer at the airport, with new routes to Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, and Seville.
“Wizz Air has been successfully operating from London Luton Airport since their very first flight over two decades ago, before launching an official base here in 2017,” said Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport. “It’s fantastic to see the continued expansion of their route network, with new routes to Rome, Milan and Vienna launching for Winter 2026 and five exciting new routes from LLA to Spain launching next Spring, the airline plays a key role in supporting our commitment to providing our passengers with even greater choice and a simple, friendly travel experience.
