London City Airport has announced plans to open its first luxury pre flight hospitality lounge, developed in partnership with Swissport International’s Aspire Pre Flight Hospitality brand, as the airport approaches its 40th anniversary in 2027. The new space forms part of London City’s wider growth strategy as it targets nine million passengers a year.
Construction is already underway, with the lounge scheduled to open in early 2027. It will be available to all departing passengers seeking an elevated pre flight experience.
Guests will enter through a modern, hotel style lobby located within the departures lounge, creating a seamless transition from security to a calm, premium environment. Inside, the lounge will feature a contemporary design aesthetic and views of London City Airport’s distinctive runway.
The space will include a centrepiece cocktail bar and a barista station serving locally roasted coffee, complemented by an artisanal food and beverage menu inspired by London and global travel. For business travellers and premium leisure guests, a dedicated workspace will offer extensive seating and private booths for calls and focused work.
Andy Cliffe, CEO at London City Airport, said the partnership with Aspire Pre Flight Hospitality marks an important milestone in the airport’s evolution. “The introduction of this exclusive experience is answering a clear demand from passengers and will elevate our unrivalled customer offer and reputation as London’s most loved airport.”
Karen Cox, CEO United Kingdom & Ireland at Swissport International, said the project reflects strong growth in the premium pre flight market. “Aspire is leading the way, constantly innovating and improving its guest experience to reflect the new demands of the discerning traveller.”
The announcement follows London City Airport’s major upgrade of its main departures lounge in 2024, highlighting its commitment to growth and future focused investment. The new lounge will be unaffiliated with any airline and accessible to all passengers via online booking, walk in purchase, and later through an annual membership programme.
Further details, including luxury brand partnerships and opening timelines, will be shared closer to launch.
