London City Airport expands leisure offering with new route

London City Airport is growing its leisure destination offering with the launch of a new British Airways route to Toulon in France.

The route is operated by BA Cityflyer and complements the airport’s existing links to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, with Toulon-Hyères Airport serving as the closest commercial airport to St Tropez.

“At London City, we’re always looking to bring our passengers exciting new destinations and as a proud Frenchwoman this one is close to my heart,” Anne Doyere, Aviation Director at London City Airport commented.

“As we continue to grow our leisure offering, we are thrilled to launch the only London route to the beautiful city of Toulon, strengthening London’s connection to the south of France alongside our popular BA Cityflyer service to Nice.

“We are focused on growth at London City Airport and the launch of Toulon reflects our ambition to expand the range of destinations we offer to passengers.”

Ian Romanis, Managing Director of BA Cityflyer, said: “We’re delighted to introduce this new route, offering customers a convenient connection from the heart of London to the shores of the French Riviera. Adding Toulon to our network provides even greater choice for those travelling to the region, further strengthening our leisure offering.”

To mark the new route, customers travelling on Tuesday 26 May were welcomed to the gate in style with a French Riviera beach club experience, complete with deckchairs, parasols and a live saxophonist. London City Airport and BA Cityflyer colleagues greeted passengers with chilled soft drinks, while a ‘Whispering Angel’ rosé tasting bar added an extra touch of Provence glamour.

London City Airport is running a competition across its social media channels, giving entrants the chance to win two Club Europe return flights to Toulon with British Airways.
