Korean Air will introduce a daily nonstop service between Seoul Incheon and Hiroshima from 23 December, further strengthening its presence in Japan’s Chugoku region. The route will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A321neo fleet.
Hiroshima is renowned for its hot springs, culinary culture and leisure attractions, including traditional onsen towns such as Tomonoura and Kinoe, and regional specialties like Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, fresh oysters and local beef. The city is also a popular destination for golfers, with several courses located within an hour of Hiroshima Airport.
Beyond tourism, Hiroshima is a major industrial and economic hub. It is home to Mazda Motor Corporation’s headquarters and manufacturing plants, a significant Micron Technology semiconductor facility, and key operations for JFE Steel and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The city also serves as a strategic regional gateway, offering Sanyo Shinkansen high speed rail connections to major western Japan cities, including Okayama.
The launch reflects Korean Air’s continued investment in expanding connectivity across regional Japan. The airline has increased its Seoul Incheon–Aomori service to five weekly flights for the summer season, expanded its Seoul Incheon–Okayama route to four weekly flights, operates daily flights to Niigata and Komatsu, and recently added a late night Osaka Kansai service to provide greater schedule flexibility.
