Passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport declined in June 2026, with the airport handling 993,833 travellers, a 2.8% decrease compared with 1,022,397 in June 2025.
Commercial aircraft movements also softened, totalling 8,060 operations, down 2.1% year on year. Commuter aircraft activity registered 685 operations, a slight 0.7% decline from 2025 levels.
Overall aircraft movements fell more sharply. The airport recorded 25,028 take offs and landings in June 2026, an 11.5% drop from 28,295 in the same month last year.
General aviation remained the largest contributor to airfield activity, accounting for 16,261 operations, or 65% of the total. This segment decreased 16% compared with June 2025.
The top three airlines by passenger volume in June 2026 were Southwest Airlines with 269,414 passengers, American Airlines with 174,067, and United Airlines with 161,184.
