In line with Perth’s One Airport vision, the Australian hub has strengthened its collaboration with Bechtel, appointing the Capital Portfolio Partner to manage the design and delivery of construction projects across a live operating environment.
The two organisations originally partnered in early 2025 to establish governance, tools and processes to set the airport’s growth plans up for success. The airport is on track to deliver its transformation project within the next seven years.
Perth Airport CEO, Jason Waters, said: “Bechtel will work side by side with our team, providing specialist advice and supporting the delivery of our complex and ambitious infrastructure programme. This is an exciting time for Perth Airport as momentum picks up on a range of critical projects, including a new runway, new terminal facilities, two multi-storey car parks, significant upgrades to the road networks and the establishment of our first ever hotel.”
Perth’s vision for One Airport is expected to deliver greater efficiency for airlines, a better travel experience for passengers and socio-economic growth for the region.
“We forecast that by 2046, we will be facilitating 30 million passengers, generating 75,400 jobs, and contributing AUD 17 billion to the State’s economy annually,” said Waters.
He added that the airport has already launched a number of projects to enhance the customer experience. These include the expansion of Terminal 2, an overhaul of the retail and food and beverage offering, and introducing 95 additional self-service check-in kiosks in Terminal 1.
“We need to deliver multiple major construction projects in an operational environment at a time when our passenger numbers are continuing to grow rapidly,” said Waters.
He also noted that while the airport has been transparent with the public about these challenges, it continues to ask for patience when dealing with the unavoidable disruptions caused by the ongoing work.
