The collaboration will enable Air Partner to add value straight to passenger boarding passes, either when purchasing the ticket or before their flight in the event of a delay. The vouchers will entitle passengers to purchase food and beverages at the airport.
“We’re delighted to offer this service to our group charter and scheduled service customers in Germany as it provides an unprecedented level of flexibility, convenience, and choice in their dining options,” said Anna Thaleiser, Service Plus Group Charters at Air Partner. “By catering to diverse tastes and schedules, this innovative service not only enhances the passenger experience but also benefits vendors and contributes to a more sustainable and efficient airport environment.”
The two services, Airport Meal Vouchers and iCoupon’s Autopay, are live and operating from Frankfurt, Hamburg, Keflavik, and Düsseldorf airports. Over the first weekend, Keflavik saw an 80 per cent redemption rate over five shops, and Frankfurt saw the same rate over three shops.
Air Partner will be the first company to use the Airport Meal Vouchers, however iCoupon plans to further expand its services across other airlines.
Richard Bye, CEO of iCoupon, commented, “By transferring the meal cost directly to the passenger’s boarding pass Air Partner eliminates the need to load planes with limited food and drink options. This reduces fuel expenses, waste and the hassle for its crews while providing passengers with more choice around what and when they eat.”
While also aiding with sustainability, this integration of an intelligent voucher system will bring additional revenue to airports, providing an incentive to passengers to purchase food and beverages at selected retailers. The platform will equally facilitate the financing and invoicing systems of airports, allowing for increased efficiency in operations.
