Brisbane Airport’s annual lost property auction has returned with 800 unique lots now open for bidding.
The Australian airport’s widely anticipated Lost Property Auction is back for 2025 featuring its largest catalogue ever. This year’s fund-raising auction also coincides with the airport’s 100-year anniversary and will feature a collection of heritage aviation items.
The most dazzling item in this year’s auction is a Bvlgari 18k Gold Diamond necklace that retails for AUD11,000. Other items include laptops, tablets, cameras, gaming consoles, handbags, fashion accessories, perfume, scooters, bikes, drones, art works, and even fishing rods, beach cabanas, surfboards and sunglasses.
The items available for auction have all been left behind by the 24 million passengers passing through the airport each year. Although every effort is made to reunite passengers with lost goods, many items remain unclaimed.
“There’s nothing better than grabbing a bargain, especially when you know the money is going to help young Queenslanders thanks to fantastic charities,” said Brisbane Airport spokesperson Peter Doherty.
“It’s always surprising and even a little bizarre to see what gets left behind by the 70,000 passengers who pass through Brisbane Airport each day.

“With Brisbane Airport turning 100 this year, we’ve also included some special heritage aviation items we think will attract a lot of interest. Where else can you pick up a row of airline seats, a black box, cockpit voice recorder or vintage life jackets with Ansett on them?”
All proceeds from the auction benefit young Queenslanders, through the Courier-Mail Children’s Fund. The aim this year it raise AUD100,000 to help local charities that support young people.
Special aviation items in this year’s auction will feature runway signs used on the airfield, model aircraft, aircraft seating and cockpit voice recorders.
“This is a highly anticipated auction every year,” pointed out Anthony McLeod, Auctioneer for Lloyd’s auctions who will be overseeing the charity event.
“Bidders never know what they might find, it is literally like digging through a treasure trove and bidders are guaranteed to find a bargain here with all items listing from AUD1,” he concluded.
