The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced the performance results of the Saudi aviation sector for H1 2025, with significant results for Saudi airports.

Between January and June, the airports handled over 66 million passengers, a seven per cent increase from H1 2024. The four main airports, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah, handled 85 per cent of all passenger traffic. This was driven by a 4 per cent increase in flight activity, with a total of 463,800 flights operated.

A particularly busy period was during the Hajj season, a pilgrimage to Mecca in June, when 1.435 million pilgrims were served across 128,000 flights, and one million used the Luggage-Free Passenger Service. The season required a workforce of 18,000 people across the airports.

H1 2025 also saw the announcement of a new low-fare airline, which will be based at King Fahd Airport.

“Across our airports, airlines, and the broader aviation ecosystem, we are delivering tangible results that are enabling Vision 2030,” said Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, GACA President. “There is record-breaking performance, capacity expansion, and the strengthening of vital connections that fuel economic growth and serve industries across the Kingdom. This is the future of aviation in Saudi Arabia – bold, connected, and built for impact.”
