Greek airport operator, Fraport Greece, is enhancing airport safety with the addition of 16 Rosenbauer 6×6 Buffalo vehicles and one Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 across its network of regional airports.
Thessaloniki Airport recently welcomed the Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 – the first of its kind to be introduced at a Fraport Greece-operated airport. The Macedonian hub also received two new Rosenbauer type Buffalo 6×6 vehicles. This same model will also be deployed at 11 other airports operated by Fraport Greece.
The Buffalo 6×6 vehicles are described as advanced dual-cabin vehicles designed to perform in the most demanding operational conditions. Equipped with full protective gear for the crew and featuring specialised compartments that carry modern firefighting and rescue equipment, they provide crucial support in both airport emergencies and on-site incident response.
Meanwhile, the Panther 6×6 deployed at Thessaloniki offers exceptional performance, significantly enhancing firefighting and rescue capabilities. The delivery of the new equipment also further underlines the continuous modernisation of the regional airports.
Panagiotis Spyratos, COO of Fraport Greece said: “ With the addition of 17 new firefighting vehicles, we are substantially strengthening the operational capacity of our airports, significantly upgrading firefighting and rescue capabilities with a fleet that now totals 61 vehicles.

“This initiative is not an isolated investment, but part of a comprehensive strategic plan consistently implemented across the 14 airports we manage. The plan encompasses not only equipment modernisation but also continuous staff training through drills and simulations of every scale, ensuring maximum preparedness.”
Thanking the teams at all the airports in Fraport Greece’s portfolio, Spyratos also credited their collective efforts and outstanding service as being the “cornerstone of safe travel to millions of passengers each year,” and helping to “transform the airports into modern gateways.”
