London Oxford Airport’s state-of-the-art technology park, Aerox, is progressing with phase one offering flexible office space and R&D lab space now complete. The development comprises five buildings across 200,000 square feet and includes a café amenity hub.
Describing Aerox as a “direct investment in the future of the Thames Valley,” Will Curtis, Managing Director of London Oxford Airport, added: “We’re building the infrastructure required to attract and nurture the next generation of high-value, high-skilled businesses in technology and aviation. London Oxford Airport’s not only a leading aviation hub, but a centre of innovation and a creator of employment and training opportunities for the region.”
The total project cost for Aerox is GBP48 million, with the build designed to meet the highest sustainability standards. Key sustainable features include 25% EV charging spaces, photovoltaic (PV) roof panels on all units and extensive open amenity spaces.
The airport’s strategic location, close to the UK capital but also providing global connectivity is an area known for high-performance engineering, motorsport and technology.
The airport is home to multiple aviation and aerospace companies, including the UK headquarters of Airbus Helicopters and innovative startups such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) developer, OXCCU. It is also the UK’s busiest general aviation airport in terms of traffic movements, with its dedicated FBO offering VIP services including fast-track security and DEFRA-approved pet travel.
Complementing the launch of Aerox, the airport is also constructing a GBP13 million 70,000 sq. ft. hangar facility due for completion by the end of 2025. This facility will increase the airport’s capacity and capabilities to house and maintain larger business aircraft and MRO services.
