Avflight Mesa, in collaboration with Avfuel, has taken delivery of its first truckload of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, Arizona. The fuel is produced by Neste in Long Beach, California.

The delivery of an ongoing SAF supply marks an important step for Avflight Mesa as a leader in eco-conscious operations, with Falcon Field the first of Avflight’s 26 locations to offer SAF. It also marks Avfuel’s 30th location to provide consistent SAF supply and its second location in the Grand Canyon State brought online this summer.

“The addition of SAF to Avflight Mesa’s overall sustainability initiatives furthers our commitment to reducing the production of greenhouse gases and provides our customers the opportunity to work toward their sustainability goals,” said Aaron Mauer, Senior Regional Manager for Avflight.

Each 8,000 gallon truckload delivery of Neste’s MY SAF provides a 19 metric tonne reduction in carbon emissions over the fuel’s lifecycle. That’s the equivalent of taking 4.5 passenger vehicles off the road for a year.

Avfuel acquired the Avflight Mesa FBO in 2020 and has worked extensively with the local team to fulfill its fuelling needs and support its sustainability initiatives.

Corinnne Nystrom, Falcon Field’s Airport Director said: “We’re thrilled Avflight chose Mesa as a launching point for a more sustainable future. This move compliments Mesa’s Climate Action Plan aimed at protecting Mesa’s environment and natural resources. Wtih Falcon Field growing every day, SAF will play an important role in supporting the airfield’s increased operations while reducing overall emissions.”
