Cardiff Airport in Wales is expanding its destination network with the addition of package holidays and flights for winter sports enthusiasts to Salzburg in Austria for the winter 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Spanish carrier, Vueling, is also increasing its frequencies to Malaga for summer 2025.
Following the success of its holidays to Chambery, Tour operator Crystal Ski is increasing choice for Cardiff Airport customers adding holidays to Salzburg with flights operated by TUI Airways. The weekly flights, operating on Saturdays, to and from Salzburg will begin on 20 December 2025 and will be on sale up to 7 March 2026.
Top ski resorts close to Salzburg include St Johann, Schladming and Zell am See. Commenting on Crystal Ski and TUI’s second new ski route announced in 12 months from Cardiff, the airport’s Head of Business Development, Lee Smith, said: “The last time we had a Salzburg flight was 32 years ago in winter 1993/94, operated by the then Britannia Airways. Demand for ski holiday flights from Cardiff is high, with the Chambery route performing extremely well. I want to thank our teams for working hard to secure this exciting new route and we look forward to the launch.”
Low-cost Barcelona based airline, Vueling, is also increasing its frequency of flights to Malaga from Cardiff, offering up to five weekly departure flights during the peak summer season.
The capital of the Costa del Sol and one of Spain’s major cities, Malaga offers holidaymakers numerous leisure opportunities, including 16 beaches, numerous golf courses and a network of world-class museums, as well as an attractive monumental heritage, bustling harbour and charming old town.
The increased frequency of flights to the region is in response to customer demand for more choice of flights on key routes like Malaga, explained Smith.
“I am really pleased that Veuling has responded to the demand and we look forward to welcoming more passengers on these services at Cardiff Airport.
“Vueling is a key airline partner, operating from Wales for over 12 years, connecting Wales to key cities in Spain, allowing tourism and business connectivity.”
