Lufthansa Group’s low-cost carrier (LCC), Eurowings, is launching a direct service from Kiruna and Luleå in Sweden to its hub in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The services, which will be operated once a week from Kiruna and twice a week from Luleå will commence in December 2022. The German LCC has been serving direct flights during the winter season to Stuttgart from the two Swedish hubs. This latest announcement will see it operating direct services for the next winter season to and from Düsseldorf, where the carrier has its main hub base.

The non-stop connection with Düsseldorf will enable passengers to make use of Eurowings’ large network of destinations in Germany and elsewhere in the world. It also means a larger catchment area and thus more potential passengers than previously as Düsseldorf provides access to a densely populated part of Germany and the Dutch market.

In recent years , Germans have been the second largest group of international visitors, after the Norwegians to Swedish Lapland in terms of the number of guest nights.
