Brazilian manufacturer Embraer has broken ground on the construction of its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Fort Worth.
The USD 70 million state-of-the-art hangar, which will be used for maintenance on Embraer’s commercial jets, is due to open by 2027. This expanded facility will enable the airframe manufacturer to expand capacity to serve E-Jets in the US by 53 per cent.
The facility will complement Embraer’s operations at Alliance Airport in June at an existing hangar in collaboration with the City of Fort Worth, Denton County and the State of Texas.
“This moment marks a new chapter in Embraer’s journey in the US, a country where we’ve been for over 46 years,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer.
“With an investment of up to USD70 million and the creation of 250 new skilled aviation jobs, this facility is a symbol of our long-term commitment to the US market,” he continued.
Fort Worth Mayor, Mattie Parker, described the groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on 20 October, as an “exciting milestone for the region.”
He also noted, “The airport continues to serve as a hub of innovation and economic opportunity, and Embraer’s expansion further strengthens Fort Worth’s position as a global leader in aviation and advanced manufacturing.”
Meanwhile, Robert Allen, President and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, said Embraer’s second facility at Alliance Texas is testament to Fort Worth’s growing economy. “Once completed, these buildings will expand Embraer’s presence in Froth Wroth and, just as important, will expand Fort Worth’s role as a leader in aviation.”
Once complete, the new Fort Worth service centre will join Embraer’s global network, which includes more than 80 authorised service centres and 13 Embraer owned service centres worldwide.
