French construction and engineering group, Egis, has won the contract to operate and manage Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport in a consortium with the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In 2017 Egis won the public service contracts for Paul Pyrénées airport and Brest Quimper airports. This latest contract marks the engineering company’s commitment to expanding its presence and operations in France.
Starting in early 2020 the operation and management of Bergerac Airport will be entrusted to the consortium for a period of 12 years. Since the early 2000s the airport’s traffic has mainly been comprised of low-cost carriers, including Ryanair, Transavia and Flybe. It currently accommodates around 250,000 to 300 000 passengers per year, although this new concession plans to develop traffic and help to boost airport and the region it serves.
Billed as a gateway to the Dordogne, and more widely to the Aquitaine region, Bergerac is the fourth largest airport in Aquitaine in terms of passenger traffic.
Involved in the management and operation of 16 airports worldwide, with a total of more than 28 million passengers and 366,000 tonnes of freight in 2018, Egis managed a turnover of €1.13bn in 2018 and currently has 15,000 employees. It has a 45% stake in the operation and management of Bergerac Airport, while the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a 55% stake.
