With passenger numbers exceeding 15 million in 2024, Edinburgh Airport is now building on its partnership with Veovo to further improve the passenger experience.

Veovo will build on the airport’s existing queue management system, which tracks wait times at key points like security by implementing its curb-to-flight flow management tool. By analysing behaviour by flight and time of day, curb-to-flight provides a comprehensive view of passenger movements throughout the airport. For instance, understanding when passengers arrive at the airport allows optimal planning of check-in and bag drop resources to help reduce queue times. Meanwhile insights into how passengers move through and spend their time in shopping and restaurants helps with planning for retail offerings.

“With full curb-to-flight tracking, we will unlock unparalleled insight into the trends of passenger show-up, airport journey and retail experience,” said Alastair Williamson, Head of Airport Systems and Data at Edinburgh Airport. “Understanding these behaviours provides an amazing opportunity to measure and improve all aspects of the passenger journey.”

He also noted that as the airport moves into the next phase of airport expansion, optimising space and resources to meet demand and deliver on the expectations of passengers is key. Veovo’s tool will also enable gate allocations to be fine-tuned based on passenger flow patterns, reducing walking and wait times and preventing bottlenecks in high-traffic areas.

Veovo CEO, James Williamson, expressed his delight at the expanded partnership, as he said it will optimise “performance further and create better passenger experiences throughout the terminal.”

He also explained that, “linking flight operations with full curb-to-flight insights is key to transforming operational performance.”

The deployment of curb-to-gate complements other Veovo tools deployed at Edinburgh, including its Airport Operational Database, Resource Management and Revenue systems.
