The station includes a fleet of 14 electric ground support equipment (GSE), such as cargo loaders, pushbacks, bag tugs, and belt loaders, and a portfolio of passenger service, telematics, resource management, virtual training and anti-collision systems.
“We are proud to invest in Orlando, the home of dnata’s USA Headquarters, and lead the way in shaping the future of ground handling,” said David Barker, Regional CEO for Americas, dnata. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to implementing practical, scalable solutions that enhance operational performance, safety, and service quality for our airline partners and their passengers.”
Barker continued: “We are committed to implementing this model across our 22 locations in the United States, elevating industry standards nationwide. We extend our gratitude to our partners, including Lufthansa and Oshkosh AeroTech, for their unwavering support and look forward to achieving further success together.”
The systems consist of passenger friendly check-in and baggage desks, baggage drop points, conveyor belt management systems, virtual reality training, a resource management system, AI tools for operational oversight, and a collision avoidance system that uses data insights to mitigate risks during ground towing. Additionally, dnata will use as single platform to streamline all its operations into one digital space and adopt advanced telematics systems to monitor equipment usage and performance.
“With the ‘Station of Tomorrow,’ Discover Airlines can offer our customers a new experience that combines efficient technological processes and environmental aspects,” commented Lars Michael Wendel, Nominated Person Ground Operations, Discover Airlines. “We are particularly excited about the new E-GSE and the anti-collision system, which make the turnaround more environmentally friendly and meet the airlines’ high safety standards. We look forward to taking these steps with dnata as a partner and are proud to be part of these innovations.”
The initiative is expected to generate 50 direct jobs in Orlando with dnata, as well as promote economic growth and benefits to local businesses. dnata partnered with Lufthansa Group, Oshkosh AeroTech, Evitado Technologies, and AVIAR to create the project.
