Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), the company delivering Poland’s Port Polska investment programme, has invited selected contractors to submit commercial and technical bids for the construction of the passenger terminal at the country’s new national airport. Five consortia are participating in the procurement process.
The bidders now have 60 days to prepare and submit their proposals. Alongside price, the evaluation will consider construction methodology, delivery strategy, organisation of works and the warranty provisions offered. The compliant bid achieving the highest score across all criteria will secure the contract to build what is expected to be one of the most advanced airport terminals in Europe.
The invitation to tender follows the successful completion of a competitive dialogue conducted in a collaborative, partnership based format. Contractors contributed extensively to the development of the final tender documentation. The five shortlisted consortia comprise 16 companies, including 14 of Poland’s largest construction firms.
CPK’s contractor qualification process has increased the likelihood that the terminal will be delivered by companies with deep experience in major Polish infrastructure projects and a well established domestic workforce.
The contract award is expected around the turn of 2026/27. Preparatory groundworks for the terminal — including piling — are scheduled to begin this autumn. The main construction phase is planned for completion in 2031, followed by airport commissioning, testing and certification in 2032.
The planned passenger terminal will have a gross floor area of approximately 450,000 square metres and will feature up to 170 check in desks on opening day. During the initial phase of operations, the airport will offer 26 contact stands for narrow body aircraft and 23 for wide body aircraft, including 18 flexible MARS (Multiple Apron Ramp System) stands capable of accommodating either one wide body or two narrow body aircraft. The baggage handling system will include around 11 kilometres of conveyor belts. Once operational, the airport is expected to employ more than 35,000 people.
