Cologne Bonn Airport has revealed its new flight schedule for summer, with 24 airlines offering flights to 127 destinations, including five new destinations.
The new summer schedule will come into force as of 31 March and will feature two new airlines for the airport; low-fare carrier Air Cairo will be operating a flight to Hurghada in Egypt once a week, while the German leisure charter airline, Sundair will be offering flights from Cologne Bonn to Malta once a week.
“Our new summer flight schedule provides our passengers with interesting destinations for a wide range of travel needs. For example, alongside the traditional holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, you will also find countless exciting metropolises for city breaks and this year there are also a number of insider tips for those who like something more individual,” said Johan Vanneste, chair of the management board of Cologne Bonn Airport.
Several of the new destinations are being offered by the low-fare airline Ryanair, with a new twice-weekly service to Knock in Ireland, and a route to Bordeaux in the south of France, served three times a week.
Ryanair passengers flying from Cologne Bonn will be able to choose from 33 destinations this year. There will be 32 flights a week to Palma de Mallorca alone and flights on routes to other major cities such as Rome, Bologna and Copenhagen will also increase in frequency.
The airline will also be adding Palermo in Sicily and Zadar in Croatia to their programme of scheduled flights.
Meanwhile, Eurowings, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines, from the Lufthansa Group, will be offering flights to a total of 70 destinations. New for this year, Eurowings will be operating weekly flights to the Portuguese island Porto Santo on behalf of the tour operator Olimar.
Alongside popular summer destinations such as the Balearic Islands (Eurowings will be offering 39 flights a week to Palma de Mallorca alone), the Canary Islands, Greece and Turkey, Eurowings and Lufthansa will also have a range of city-break destinations with more frequent flights to Munich, Vienna and Hamburg.
