Sihanoukville Airport, which is operated by Cambodia Airports (which is owned by Vinci Airports and Muhibbah Masteron Cambodia), has achieved Level 3 (Optimisation) on the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme. The airport is following in the footsteps of its fellow Cambodian hub, Phnom Penh International Airport, which attained ACA Level 3 earlier this year.
To achieve the Level 3 milestone, the airport has invested in a multi-pronged approach to reduce carbon emissions, including: Commissioning efficient chiller systems for central air conditioning; replacing gall light sources with LED technologies; automatic systems to reduce and optimise energy consumption; and awareness campaigns to encourage specific behaviours towards carbon management and reduction.
Third party suppliers at the airport, such as food and beverage concessionaires, fuel suppliers and airlines are also benefitting from the airport’s Stakeholder Engagement Programme to help reduce emissions.
“We are continuing our commitment onward with respect to fighting climate change, intensifying our efforts in every possible way to substantiate our vision for Positive Mobility,” said Cyril Girot, CEO of Cambodia Airports. “Having our partners join concrete actions that we have implemented bodes well for our next accomplishments,” he continued.
