Reno-Tahoe International Airport
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is foreseeing its busiest day in nearly twenty years, with over 20,000 passengers expected to come and go on 25 August 2024.
Partially, the increased activity at the airport is driven by several new routes, including the baseball-specific destinations, Las Vegas – Nevada, Tacoma – Washington, Salt Lake City – Utah, Round Rock – Texas and Sugar Land – Texas. However, the Burning Man annual event is another factor.

Taking place in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, the event brings thousands of visitors each year, and presents certain specific challenges for the airport. Reno-Tahoe will be providing a shuttle bus service, as well as the Air Playa Info desk, an information stand for travelers.
Due to the desert location of Burning Man, the airport will also be providing luggage-bags and shoe covers to protect the baggage belts from playa dust, as well as to keep the airport clean. Equally, event attendees will have the opportunity to donate items and bicycles at the Burner Express drop-off, to counteract the waste often seen after festivals.
Travelers can equally find an event-related art exhibition at the airport in the depARTures Gallery, titled: “Beyond Blackrock: A Global Burning Man Showcase.”
