Myway Airlines, the Georgian start-up carrier is to commence a new route linking Budapest in Hungary with Tbilisi in Georgia. The new three times weekly service will start on 28 October and will be operated by the carrier’s 170-seat 737-800s.

Budapest Airport is already experiencing solid growth so far this year with an average 14% passenger traffic growth. With 10 new still routes still to commence in 2018, this positive trend is set to continue. This latest service to the Georgian capital will mean Budapest will offer close to 20,000 scheduled seats to Georgia during W18/19.

While no other carriers currently serve the Budapest-Tbilisi link, Myway Airlines will face competition with the Polish low-fare carrier on its service from the Hungarian gateway to Kutaisi in the west of Georgia. Boosting Hungary’s connections to the Caucasus region, the new flight provides a significant link to the cultural intersection of Europe and Asia, presenting an important new route for various energy and trade developments.
