Budapest Airport is welcoming a new link to Nantes, via the French low-fare carrier, Transavia France, with a twice-weekly seasonal summer route launching on 7 April 2019.

This marks Transavia France’s second route from Budapest Airport, joining the airline’s existing service to Paris Orly. The result of the French carrier’s investment means it will increase seat capacity from Budapest next summer by 50%.

This additional route will also mean that Budapest will offer direct flights to at least seven destinations in France for next summer.

“It is great that Transavia France is showing further commitment to the Budapest market by launching flights from Nantes next year,” said Balázs Bogáts, head of airline development, Budapest Airport. “Renowned for its splendid scenery as well as numerous galleries, museums and castles, I am sure that this destination will not only prove popular with Budapest passengers wanting to explore more of regional France, but also for the those living in France’s sixth largest city wanting to explore the wonders of Budapest and Hungary.”

France is the fifth largest country market from Budapest, with over 693,000 passengers travelling directly between the Hungarian capital and France last year.

The market will also receive a further boost this winter season as Ryanair begins a twice-weekly service to Marseille.
