With Brisbane Airport part way through its $5 billion Future BNE transformation project, the Australian hub has chosen Amadeus technology for its self-service technology at bag drop and check-in.

In line with plans to move away from legacy technology, around 100 self-service bag drop units and more than 260 self-service check-in kiosks will be deployed in both the international and domestic terminals. The airport is also transferring all its passenger processing technology to the cloud with the introduction of Amadeus’ Airport Cloud Use Service to power more than 300 agent assisted check-in desks across both terminals.

Gert-Jan Graff, Brisbane Airport CEO said: “The first new-generation check-in row is already up and running and the feedback from travellers and airlines staff has been fantastic. It’s a giant leap from the 1990s to now.”

The first self-service units have already been deployed at Brisbane with the project expected to be complete during 2026.

“Brisbane is a great example of an airport with a long-term transformation strategy that places the traveller at the heart of the experience,” explained Sarah Samuel, SV) APAC, Airport & Airline operations, Amadeus. “With flexible cloud infrastructure and advanced self-service options the technology foundations are being laid so Brisbane can offer passengers outstanding experience for years to come.”
