Brisbane Airport has recorded its highest-ever annual passenger total, welcoming 25.2 million travellers in FY26 — more than one million additional passengers compared with the previous year. The result reinforces Brisbane’s role as Queensland’s primary gateway and highlights the continued strength of both its domestic and international networks.
Across the financial year, 25,246,950 passengers passed through the airport, a 4.0% increase on FY25. International traffic grew strongly, rising 7.9% to 7,080,057 passengers, while domestic volumes reached 18,166,893, up 2.5% year‑on‑year.
Mainland China emerged as Brisbane Airport’s fastest‑growing international market, with passenger numbers surging 51.1% — an additional 137,710 travellers choosing Brisbane as their gateway.
CEO Gert‑Jan de Graaff said the result reflects both network resilience and the continued addition of airline capacity at BNE. He noted that more than 25 million journeys were made through the airport in the year to June, “equivalent to nearly two Gabba‑sized crowds passing through the airport every day.”
De Graaff added that international growth was particularly encouraging given global uncertainty and disruption in the Middle East during the second half of the financial year. While some traditional Europe‑bound routes were affected, travellers continued to fly, often choosing alternative connections through Asia to reach long‑haul destinations.
The CEO highlighted key developments over the past year, including the return of Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur, which became Brisbane’s 35th direct international destination, expanding choice for Queensland travellers. He also noted Jetstar’s milestone of one million international passengers at Brisbane Airport, underscoring strong demand for affordable travel and the airline’s role in connecting Queenslanders with global destinations.
Brisbane Airport is now advancing a $5 billion, five‑year investment program under its Future BNE initiative, delivering new aviation, terminal and commercial infrastructure designed to support Queensland’s long‑term growth and strengthen connectivity for decades to come.
