From July, Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) will increase its presence at Sweden’s Visby Airport in Gotland with the addition of two new direct routes to Oslo and Arhus.

Catering for travel during the peak summer months, the routes will be served twice weekly until 13 August and will be flown on Thursdays and Sundays to Oslo and on Mondays and Fridays to Arhus. Both routes will be operated by the fuel-efficient ATR 720600 regional carriers, with seating for 72 passengers.

The addition of the two new routes means the airline will now fly to a total of seven different destinations from the Gotland gateway, including Gotenburg, Malmo, Norrkoping and Angelholm/ Helsingborg. The airport also caters for scheduled flights to Stockholm and Helsinki as well as charter operations to Greece and Spain.

“It feels great that BRA will launch two new international routes, which will create opportunities for new visitors to experience our wonderful island – Norwegians and Danes are both important target groups for Gotland,” said Gunnar Jonasson, Airport Director at Visby Airport.

“Seen from the perspective of people from Gotland, it will now also be convenient to visit both Norway and Denmark this summer.”

BRA’s CCO, Martin Erkenborn, added his delight at the new routes, saying: “Gotland with the city of Visby is an incredibly important region for us, so it feels especially good that we are now connecting Gotland with other parts of Scandinavia. This investment is fully in line with our long-term strategy to fortify our position as an airline in Gotland and with our plan to expand beyond Sweden’s borders.”
