Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky, has announced 1,614,053 passengers in 2025, beating the 2024 traffic by around 42,000 passengers and setting a new record for the second year in a row.
The airport highlights a revived Delta Air Lines route to New York LaGuardia Airport, a new Allegiant service to Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport, and an expansion to United Airlines’ route to Chicago as the key factors for the growth.
“This milestone belongs to our community and the region,” said Eric Frankl, president and CEO of Blue Grass Airport. “These record passenger numbers reflect the trust placed in LEX and its airline partners, and that support makes a real difference. When you fly from Lexington, it helps secure more flights, more destinations and a stronger future for air service in central and southeastern Kentucky.”
In line with the year’s uptake in passengers, the airport has been expanding its parking area since May 2025 with a USD 17.8 million investment, creating 815 long-term parking spaces and including a second covered walkway to the terminal, upgraded parking technology, and additional exit lanes.
