Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated Bale’s recently built Wako Gutu Airport Terminal in the regional state of Oromia.
The new airport terminal is aimed at advancing the socio-economic and cultural interrelation between the domestic regions and the global aviation sector providing a seamless domestic connectivity.
Commenting on his delight at the completion of the terminal project, Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew said it will bring an “enhanced travel experience” for passengers flying to and from the region.
“Our commitment to improving the airport experience across our domestic network drives us to invest in upgrades and renovations like this. We take great pride in delivering this state-of-the-art facility and look forward to offering our passengers an elevated level of comfort and convenience.”
Known for its proximity to Ethiopia’s spectacular and extensive underground Sof Omar caverns and Bale Mountains National Park, Bale is one of the country’s iconic tourist destinations. Having acquired Ethiopian Airports Enterprise in 2017, Ethiopian Airlines is expanding and developing the country’s airport network with construction and renovation projects ongoing throughout Ethiopia. It also continues to enhance regional and domestic connectivity, serving more than 22 destinations across the country. In addition to the new terminal at Robe Wako Gutu Airport (to which the airline serves 14 weekly flights to and from), Ethiopian has recently inaugurated Gode Ugaas Miraad and Jinka airports and renovated the domestic terminal at Addis Ababa Bole, which serves the capital.
The airline has also ramped up services with the return of flights to Dembi Dollo and Axum airports and the launch of new air transport links to Nekemite.
