With more than 100 FBO locations across North America, Atlantic Aviation is expanding its portfolio with the acquisition of Ferrovial Vertiports, as it looks to embrace advanced air mobility (AAM) operations.
The acquisition (for an undisclosed amount) underpins Texas-based Atlantic Aviation’s aim to lead the industry in the creation of sustainable infrastructure to support advanced air mobility (AAM) operations by incorporating electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) infrastructure expertise into its operations.
“We see tremendous long-term benefits and growth in building out infrastructure to support the advanced air mobility space,” said Jeff Foland, CEO at Atlantic Aviation. “The combination of our operational expertise with the outstanding work the Ferrovial Vertiports team has done so far will serve as a boost to safe and efficient eVTOL operations as the network develops.”
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlantic Aviation, Ferrovial Vertiports will immediately begin to operate under the name VertiPorts by Atlantic. With the leadership team of the acquired business continuing its role in developing various locations for eVTOL operations to connect communities in regions across the US, the company will now look to determine the best locations for additional vertiport locations nationwide.
Atlantic Aviation has already established a track record for advancing eVOTL infrastructure, from installations of electric aircraft charging stations at its FBO facilities to initiating utility upgrades at New York’s 34th Street Heliport to support future eVTOL operations. “Vertiports will be an essential element in Atlantic Aviation’s development of sustainable solutions and state-of-the-art aviation services,” noted Luke Bugeja, CEO of Ferrovial Airports.
He was joined by Ferrovial Airports’ former CEO, Kevin Cox, who has now been appointed CEO of The VertiPorts by Atlantic business. Commenting on the acquisition, he said the new business will “forge a transformative and visionary presence in the AAM infrastructure space. We’re setting a new standard for innovation and leadership in the industry which will transform how people move seamlessly to, through and between cities.”
