Arajet and Carrasco International Airport have confirmed a new partnership that will introduce nonstop flights between Montevideo and Punta Cana, creating the first direct air link connecting Uruguay with the Dominican Republic. The service will launch on 3 March 2027, operating three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets are already on sale.
The announcement was made at Carrasco International Airport during an event attended by Uruguay’s minister of tourism Pablo Menoni, alongside senior representatives from Aeropuertos Uruguay and Arajet.
Menoni said the new service reflects the government’s ongoing push to strengthen Uruguay’s international air connectivity, noting that improved links play a central role in expanding the country’s tourism sector.
Aeropuertos Uruguay’s commercial manager Matías Carluccio described the route as a major step forward for national connectivity. He highlighted that the new flights will give Uruguayan travellers access to Arajet’s 29 destination network, including high demand leisure and gateway cities such as Cancun, Miami and New York.
“Expanding air service is essential for the country, and we are pleased to celebrate this milestone,” he said.
The Montevideo–Punta Cana flights will be operated using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
