American Airlines is preparing to open a new Terminal A pier expansion at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), adding 10 additional gates to support growth at the carrier’s largest hub. Once operational, the expansion will make Terminal A the busiest terminal in American’s network.

The new pier includes more than just gate capacity. It features updated concessions, enhanced customer amenities, and new support spaces for team members, forming part of the wider modernization programme underway across DFW.

DFW is American’s hometown airport and its largest hub, handling more passengers than any other location in the airline’s network. American is investing billions of dollars to modernize and strengthen the hub, aiming to deliver a smoother experience for customers and team members, improve schedule reliability and connections, and increase resilience during severe weather and other operational disruptions.

The Terminal A expansion is one of several improvements customers will see over the coming years, reflecting American’s long‑standing commitment to Texas and the communities across its network.
