Aena has extended its package of incentives to regional airports to assist with post-covid recovery.

The airports receiving the incentive are: A Coruña, Seve Ballesteros-Santander, Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén, Vigo, Jerez, Murcia International Airport, Almería, Pamplona, Valladolid, León, Logroño-Agoncillo, Córdoba, Burgos, Albacete, Madrid-Cuatro Vientos, Huesca-Pirineos, and the Algeciras Heliport (Cádiz), and 32 other airports and heliports who had less than three million passengers in 2023 already benefit from the scheme.

Eligible airports will receive a 100 per cent discount on airport security and PRM (Passenger with Reduced Mobility) services for any additional number of passengers that exceeds the previous year’s equivalent, valid during the summer and winter of 2025 and 2026. This discount is estimated to reduce total operating costs by 70 per cent for additional flights, and builds upon the previous Aena scheme that stated a 100 per cent passenger fee discount for all additional passengers from 2023 for regional airports during the 2024-2026 period.

For airlines, bonuses will be awarded for operating during off-peak seasons at the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Ceuta and Melilla airports, as well as off-peak days at Canary archipelago airports and for connecting passengers. Equally, airlines will be exempt from paying passenger fees for three years on additional passengers from the 2023 figures.

There will also be incentives for new routes to new destinations at regional airports until March 2027, and discounts for airlines operating at La Palma Airport for the entirety of 2025, to help boost tourism.
