Aena Group airports have registered record activity for the third consecutive year, handling more than 384 million passengers worldwide.

Regarding traffic forecasts, Chairman and CEO Maurici Lucena Betriu said: “For 2026, we have a forecast published before the Iran crisis: a 1.3% increase in passengers in our country, reaching 326 million. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if, once the current geopolitical and economic uncertainty subsides, we reassess this forecast.”

Aena’s share price closed 2025 with an annual increase of 20.7% and Betriu emphasised the significant work the company has carried out in recent years to defend the interests of its public and private shareholders.

He said: “In 2025, we, as a company, gave an unequivocal response, firstly, to the demands for the impossible co-management of airports in some Autonomous Communities and, secondly, to the airlines’ demands for an endless, unsustainable reduction in our airport fees outside the airport regulatory framework.”

Betriu noted that Aena has reinforced its international growth strategy with new acquisitions in the United Kingdom and Brazil, expanding its network of airport assets, adding: “The latest global traffic forecasts published by the Airports Council International (ACI) support this strategy, placing Spain, Brazil, and the United Kingdom among the 10 countries with the highest air traffic worldwide by 2054.”
