Aberdeen International Airport has announced the next phase of its £2.5 million ABZ Reimagined programme, unveiling a series of upgrades to its retail and food and beverage offering ahead of summer 2027. The improvements mark a key milestone in the airport’s wider transformation strategy and will deliver a more spacious, modern and passenger‑focused terminal experience.
Travellers will benefit from expanded retail space, increased restaurant seating and an enhanced coffee offer, providing greater choice and comfort before departure. As part of the programme, the airport’s WHSmith and InMotion post‑security stores will be merged into a single, larger unit, creating additional retail capacity and a more streamlined shopping environment. Dining facilities will also be extended, offering more seating and flexibility for passengers looking to relax before their flight.
These enhancements form part of a broader investment plan designed to elevate the customer experience and meet the evolving needs of passengers travelling through Aberdeen International Airport. Earlier this year, the airport appointed strategic design consultancy Portland Design to help shape its future retail proposition. Portland has since developed a comprehensive set of Retail Design Guidelines, now informing the transformation of commercial spaces across the terminal.
Passengers will begin to see changes take shape over the coming months, with improvements delivered in phases ahead of summer 2027. The airport’s competitive tender process remains ongoing for several retail and food and beverage opportunities, with further announcements on future operators to follow.
Craig Norton, head of retail and development at AGS Airports, said: “ABZ Reimagined is all about creating a modern airport experience that reflects the ambitions of the north‑east of Scotland and meets the expectations of today’s travellers. These latest improvements represent another important milestone in that journey and will deliver tangible benefits for the millions of passengers who travel through Aberdeen International Airport each year.”
He added that the investment demonstrates the airport’s commitment to continually improving the passenger experience while strengthening its role as a key regional gateway.
